In 1998 Jim Woods called me and said he wanted to work together. I was very humbled by this. Jim is one of the greatest old time fiddle players in the country. We had worked together a little before this, but always with a band I was in called The Wineskins. Jim would come in to the studio and blow us away with his playing on one of our songs. This all took place in Nashville where I was a writer for 14 years with two different publishers. Jim had built a state of the art studio in his home outside of Nashville in a little town called Fairview. We would watch deer playing in a field out back while we were recording. I told him from the beginning that this was going to be record about my home, Mississippi. I also told him I love all things Irish, being a long lost Gypsy from County Laois. These songs are about members of my family, some still living, others moved on. I wrote it very quickly and it will always hold a special place with me. I hope you like it. wkm
