W. Keith Moore was raised in Meridian, Mississippi and Henderson, Texas. His broken home allowed him the rich culture of these two musically rich places. The 60 acres in Central Mississippi was where he grew up working cattle from horseback. In Texas, where he spent the summers, he went to work with his dad who hanged and finished drywall. Riding in the truck his dad always had Merle Haggard, George Jones, Waylon, Willie, and Buck Owens, among other Great country legends playing. His father also loved The Sons of the Pioneers, Don Edwards, and other great Western singers. W. started writing when he was fourteen. He wrote for Fame out of Muscle Shoals, for BMG in Nashville, and the first song he ever wrote in Nashville was published by Crosswinds Music. His band in the late 90's, The Wineskins, was a favorite for the likes of Nancy Griffith, Michael Martin Murphy, Tom Kimmel, and was written about by Robert K. Orman in the Nashville Scene. His live show is a must for anyone who misses the Traditional Country sound. W's songs are rich with stories about his life and the lives of those around him. His sound is Traditional Country, Americana, but it's not retro, it's fresh. He grew up on horseback, learning to ride before he learned to walk. He raises Quarter Horses, starting and finishing them. He has a deep connection to all things horse. He and his family live in Oxford Mississippi. He is a modern day Cowboy Poet, singing about love, loss, and the things blue collar America knows and lives.
